Think Inside the Box(car)
Some people actually live in boxcars. And it’s awesome.
Here’s a bit of nostalgia for you: Henry, Jessie, Violet, Benny, their dog Watch, and an abandoned boxcar. As a kid, nothing captured our imaginations more than the idea of living in the woods with no adult supervision. In a boxcar no less.
Despite having one—or even two—perfectly functional parents, plenty of us still daydreamed of joining the idyllic little family of orphans in their cozy boxcar dwelling. Henry worked, Jessie cooked and cleaned, Violet sewed, and Benny made silly but adorable remarks.
For the Boxcar Children, living in a boxcar was a matter of necessity. They had to escape to the woods to avoid living with their evil grandfather (who—spoiler alert—actually ends up being a stand-up guy).
Though most of us don’t have to deal with sinister grandparents, we all understand the need to get away. In fact, most of us wouldn’t mind a stay a boxcar—without adult supervision, naturally.
So we searched around the Internet for photos of people who are already living the dream. Check out their rustic boxcar homes and hideaways below.
How about this wicked treehouse?
Or maybe this two-story shipping car palace?
This adorable cabin in the woods that’s actually a caboose?
